What is “Sound Reinforcement” and why do I need it?

Sound travels and disperses through the air, and it diminishes pretty rapidly as the distance increases between the source and the destination.  Think of how much more difficult it is to understand someone talking who is fifty feet away than it is when they’re five feet away.
Using that as an example, Sound Reinforcement involves first using a good microphone to capture the sound from the person talking, and transform that sound into an electronic signal.  We then use technology to mix, enhance and process the signal and get it ready to be reproduced.
The next step in Sound Reinforcement involves using the process of amplification to increase the level of the signal so that it will have sufficient power.
Finally we reach the reproduction stage, where we transform the amplified electronic signal back to sound with the use of speakers, usually mounted on stands.  The job of the speakers is to propagate, distribute, and direct the sound in a more powerful, efficient, and intelligible way, so that the person talking can ultimately be better heard at a greater distance.
So the original sound from the person talking has now been “reinforced” because it has been reproduced with greater power, range, and clarity.  The advantage?  The person talking can now be heard and understood over a larger spatial area and therefore, by a greater number of listeners.

Commitment to Safety

In-Phase Audio takes safety seriously.  As a professional in the event production business, I always take precautions with all equipment to create a safe environment for everyone in attendance.  Our gear is all housed and transported in heavy-duty cases.  We do not suspend our speakers overhead but instead typically place them on stands in a location where they are not likely to be knocked over.  All power and signal cabling is laid along the most feasible route with the least foot traffic, and where any paths have to be crossed we securely tape down or cover our cords to prevent a trip hazard.  Our goal with equipment placement is to be heard but not seen, to the extent reasonably possible.
